Hey There!
I'm John Hoffman and I’m a record producer/engineer from Cincinnati, Ohio.
Since I was 16 years old I've been engineering, mixing, producing and mastering records. I also do FOH engineering and play/tour in three bands, Vacation, BEEF and The Mimes. I like DEVO, John Prine, The Ramones, Country Teasers, skateboarding and riding my bike.
My practice as an engineer began as an exploratory necessity, but eventually I found myself in the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. During my studies, I practiced by taking a mobile recording rig around the city and recording punk bands in any dingey basement that I could. After my time at the conservatory, I took up home in the storied
Ultrasuede Recording Studio in the historic
QCA facilities. When Ultrasuede was uprooted by a new landlord, I moved into my own studio, the Hamilton County Youth Prevention Center.

Nowadays I find myself at my permanent studio home,
The Lodge, in Northern Kentucky. I share it with the adept and inventive repair technicians,
Foleytronics. The Lodge is an acoustically treated repurposed Masonic Temple with the largest live room recording studio in the Cincinnati area. It has both digital and analogue capabilties, isolation booths, a baby grand piano, a large selection of synths, organs, keyboards, guitar amps, and both vintage/modern outboard equipment.

I would love to discuss your project with you and see if we would be a good fit for one another. I am available for sessions of all kinds, whether they're remote, analogue, digital, at my studio or in another city; just ask and I'm there! I love to travel, especially for the sake of an album.
